Future Of Oregon Trail Days Concert Is Uncertain
Posted: July 20, 2010
GERING, NE (AP) - The general chairman of Oregon Trail Days in Gering says he hopes there will be a concert at next year's celebration, but he's making no promises.

Chuck Cowan said Monday that late ticket sales pushed attendance at Saturday's Julianne Hough concert to about 1,000.

Cowan said the concert is important to Oregon Trail Days and that if there's a way to keep it, he's for it.

Cowan says people he talks to are split on whether beer should be served if there are more concerts. He said some board members believe beer sales might be necessary to help the concert grow in popularity.

In addition to the concert, last week's 4-day celebration featured an art show, a chili cook-off, street dances, car show and a bicycle hill climb.
