Poor Attendance Kills Free Concert Series
Posted: July 29, 2010
SYRACUSE, NY (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) -- Concert promoter NCS Events has pulled the plug on the remaining free shows that were a part of the 'Wednesdays On The Water' concert series, which had been planned for Syracuse's Inner Harbor. The three canceled shows included Lou Gramm on July 28th, Dokken on August 4th and the Outlaws on August 11th. A

The announcement about the cancellations was made by the concert series's media sponsors 95X Citadel Broadcasting Corp.

Promoter Marc Albert of NCS Events chalked the cancellation of the remainder of the series up to falling attendance and concession revenue. Albert told local ABC affiliate WSYR that the events had been losing money and pulling the plug now would allow him to ensure that his vendors were paid.

Albert added that he would like to continue to promote events at the Inner Harbor, but seemed skeptical. "If people don't come to free concerts, how can you expect them to show up for a paid concert?" he says. - CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
