Dir En Gray
Gilly's Dallas To Host Heavy Metal Shows
Posted: November 15, 2006
DALLAS (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) -- Gilley's Dallas, the latest iteration of the famed Pasadena Texas honky-tonk bar has entered into an agreement with concert giant AEG to host heavy metal concerts, the Dallas Morning News is reporting.

The details are sparse, but the first two bands slated to appear are God Forbid on January 30 and Japanese Dir en Grey scheduled for February 19.

Gilley's owner Allan Weiss confirmed the arrangement, but told the Dallas Morning News that he had not sold the venue to AEG but was reluctant to provide further details, telling the paper that "There's a lot of neat things getting ready to happen, but Gilley's Dallas is not being sold. We are not going away."

Weiss acquired the club in March 2006 and has since limited public hours and less live music events. Creating several smaller spaces in the cavernous club, Weiss shifted focus to providing space for private events. AEG will reportedly book one of these rooms known as the Palladium Ballroom.

Gilley's isn't done though, there are still shows planned for venue. The original Gilly's was located in Pasadena, TX and was featured in the 1980 hit movie Urban Cowboy. The club closed in 1989 and was gutted by an arson-related fire. - CelebrityAccess Staff Writers.
