The 2008 Meteor Awards
Posted: February 27, 2008 DUBLIN (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) -- The Irish Music Awards, AKA the Meteors were held on February 15th in Dublin for the 8th. Considered to the be match of the Brit Awards in the UK or Juneau, the awards show has been held since 2001.The awards were hosted by Irish comedian Dara O’Briain and a total of 19 awards, dubbed the Mimas, were a given to recipients.

Among those netting accolades this year included Aslan, for Best Irish band, Damien Dempsey for the best Irish Traditional/Folk performer and the Saw Doctors for lifetime achievement. Also recognized was the late Jim Aiken, a concert promoter who died last year and who had brought some heavyweight talent to the emerald isle.
