Promoter Pleads In Case Involving Steve Miller Band Casper Concert
Posted: October 28, 2009
CASPER (AP) -- An Arizona concert promoter has pleaded not guilty to passing a bad check to the Steve Miller Band after playing a gig in Casper last November.

Robert Alfred Green, 48, of Scottsdale, Ariz., entered the plea Tuesday in Natrona County District Court on one count of felony check fraud.

The judge has scheduled a trial for Jan. 25.

Green is accused of not having enough money in his bank account to cover the $90,600 check he wrote to the band for performing at the Casper Events Center last November.

Investigators began looking into the case in May when a band representative notified police that the check bounced.

The band, which formed in 1967, is known for hit songs "Take the Money and Run" and "The Joker."
