ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — The Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival has set a new record for attendance with 182,000 people coming to the nine-day event to see more than 1,000 performers including k.d. lang, Elvis Costello and Natalie Cole.
Smooth trumpeter Chris Botti stuck around following his sold-out show on Wednesday to hear k.d. lang's sold-out show on Thursday. He told organizers he'd like to become more involved with the festival.
Financial support for the festival, which ended Saturday night, was reduced for this year. The city of Rochester provided $200,000, down from $225,000 in prior years. Monroe County contributed $75,000. There was no state funding.
