Glancy To Leave Live Nation?
Posted: March 30, 2006
(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) -- CelebrityAccess has learned from numerous music industry executives that Jim Glancy, president of Live Nation New York, is preparing to leave the company to go into a partnership with Michael Swier and Michael Winsch who own the Mercury Lounge and the Bowery Ballroom in New York; they also book Webster Hall. The date of Glancy's departure is unspecified, however, his contract is reportedly up at the end of July, and he appears to be staying until a replacement is found.

According to a few sources, Glancy has turned down quite a bit of money to remain at Live Nation and reportedly was even offered a blank check to write his own future. Some sources are scratching their heads as to why Glancy would leave a company that books stadiums, sheds, arenas, theaters and clubs to basically be a club booker. But according to sources, Glancy has tired of the bureaucratic and corporate structure of Clear Channel Entertainment cum Live Nation. Glancy did not respond for comment.

Swier and Winsch already have plans in motion to expand into bigger venues. Two years ago they formed The Bowery Presents, a promotion company that will stage shows outside of its Mercury Lounge and Bowery Ballroom clubs. Incidentally, The Bowery Presents is co-promoting The Fab Faux with AEG-Live at its Nokia Theatre Times Square on April 23, its first promotion outside of its three venues. –Bob Grossweiner and Jane Cohen
