NASHVILLE, TN (AP) -- Casting Crowns' "Voice of Truth" was awarded song of the year, and the group's frontman Mark Hall earned songwriter of the year honors during the BMI Christian Music Awards on Saturday.

Hall won for his compositions "Lifesong," "Praise You in this Storm" and "Voice of Truth," which he co-wrote with Steven Curtis Chapman.

BMI, a performing rights organization, presented awards for 25 songs in five categories: Christian rock, contemporary Christian, inspirational, urban gospel and Southern gospel.

The organization recognizes the writers and publishers of the most performed Christian songs on radio and television.

Some of the night's other winners included Yolanda Adams for "Be Blessed," Ed Cash for "How Great is Our God," Kirk Franklin for "Looking For You," and Israel Houghton for "Friends of God.
