New York Prepares For AEG's 'In The City' Forum
Posted: April 25, 2007
NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) –- AEG has introduced "In The City Of New York" - a two-day event on June 13th & 14th, bringing high level music industry debate and the most exciting new bands in the modern world to that narrow strip of land between the Hudson and the East River.

Curated by Yvette Livesey and Factory maverick Anthony H. Wilson, founders of In The City, the internationally respected music convention held in Manchester, England, and with several nods to the great traditions of the New Music Seminar, which ruled in the 80's and early 90's, In The City Of New York is two days of talking about music, thinking about music and just enjoying music.

During the day 500 industry professionals will gather in the W Hotel, Union Square for a series of panels, seminars and master classes on the state of the music industry today and, more importantly, tomorrow. There will be two streams of unique panels; the ever-evolving music business will be debated in the great 1920's ballroom, and deep tech discussions will take place in the intimate studio room.

Like In The City in England, the daytime side of the event will center on major industry figures/legends in conversation with skilled interviewers.

By night the scene will shift to the 2,100-capacity Nokia Theatre, Times Square for two nights of simply the Best of British emerging talent. Each night will feature a major British artist already breaking in the US, a newly signed British artist with their first album out and with high expectations from their company, be it major or indie and then each night one of the two best unsigned artists from the recent In The City UNSIGNED event in Manchester.

After-show events will feature the US revenge, showcasing stateside talent for attending delegates and the public in various venues throughout downtown Manhattan.

There will be a press launch in April to reveal what to expect in the early summer, to both the industry in the US and the music fans of New York.

Who Attends?

Daytime - In The City's panelists are a diverse range of industry leaders and cutting-edge innovators engaging in high levels of debate, sharing anecdotes, thoughts and serious business discussion with captivated delegates. In The City has attracted high profile characters such as Malcolm McLaren, Seymour Stein, Lyor Cohen, Korda Marshall, Clive Davis, Richard Russell, Tony Wadsworth, Bob Lefsetz, Ferdy Unger-Hamilton, Ged Doherty, Jac Holzman, Jazz Summers, Conor McNicholas, Pete Jenner, Richard Griffiths, Max Lousada, Brian Eno, Billy Bragg, Andy Rourke - The Smiths, Ian McCulloch – Echo & The Bunnymen, Chuck D – Public Enemy, Ian Brown and Mani - The Stone Roses and Primal Scream. Delegates come from all areas of the industry.

Nighttime - In The City's community of music fans are urbanite taste-makers who are actively engaged in the production and consumption of popular and independent culture. New York's downtown community, music savvy college students, and cosmopolitan UK music culture vultures make up an integral part of In The City's social fabric. They are music fans, DJs, artists, graphic designers, photographers, models, bar/club/lounge and restaurant owners, boutique owners, fashion designers, owners of lifestyle brands, creative directors, magazine editors, publishers, nightlife promoters, dot.com owners, bloggers, PR consultants, journalists, marketers, advertising creatives.
