AEG Live Acquires Starland Ballroom
Posted: April 25, 2007
NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess Media Wire) -- AEG Live has acquired ownership of New Jersey’s the Starland Ballroom as part of the company’s overall strategic growth in the greater New York and New Jersey metro area.

Located in Sayreville, NJ, the Starland Ballroom joins AEG Live’s expanding roster of recently acquired venues in New Jersey such as Red Bull Park, a 25,000-seat stadium currently under construction in Harrison, which will become the home of Major League Soccer’s New York Red Bulls as well as national concert tours promoted by AEG Live; Newark's Prudential Center, which will be the new home of the National Hockey League’s New Jersey Devils upon the arena’s forthcoming opening; and the Poland Spring Arena at The Ritacco Center in Tom’s River, which will feature co-exclusive booking of events with the venue’s former owners Concerts East, which will maintain partnership with AEG Live.

Starland’s bookings will also complement those of the brand new HighLine Ballroom in New York as well as AEG Live’s Nokia Theatre Times Square; the venues, which are similar in size and artist roster, will share a cooperative marketing plan that promotes greater options for both performers and their fans.

AEG Live’s Starland Ballroom features state-of-the-art sound and lighting; flexible capacity to accommodate anywhere from 600 to 2,600; flexible staging; and clear sightlines throughout the main room. The venue's decor is accented with dark woods, roughened black iron trim and lacquered mahogany and cherrywood bars and floors. There is also an exposed brick foyer and line-up area, modern ticketing services and well-lit, professionally-managed parking facilities.

“The Starland is a fantastic room, loved by both the fans and artists alike,” said Mark Shulman, AEG Live vice president - Talent, Northeast. “We are proud to have this venue as the AEG launching pad for developing talent in the NJ / NY Metro area, where we will be able to grow the fan base for artists into our bigger rooms like Red Bull Stadium or the Prudential Center. For the first time, New Jersey will have a true network of venues to see artists at all phases of their career.” -- Bob Grossweiner and Jane Cohen
