Travelodge's innovative new Travelpod
Lounge, Launder, And Listen To Live Music
Posted: August 22, 2007
NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) -- Have you ever left your filthy tent, tee shirt and everything else you own behind on the field after a music festival that was more memorable for its muddy conditions than its music?

It’s seems the genius of marketing firms are stepping in to make sure that never happens again.

International hotel chain Travelodge has pioneered the latest in “roughing-it” accommodations, launching the Travelpod – a self-contained mobile hotel room, complete with a double bed, carpeted floors, a flat-screen television and air conditioning.

The Travelpod is designed to be set up anywhere you might put up a tent, but features a 19.5” by 8” polycarbonate glass box that houses all the amenities of a conventional hotel room.

But you can’t be tracking mud from the mosh pits into your posh suite…why not throw a load in the wash first?

At the Lowlands festival in Holland, blue jeans brand Wrangler offered music fans a much-needed laundry service in a 60” by 30” pop-up Laundromat.

Festival attendees were able to drop off their mud-encrusted duds at the tent in exchange for a rental pair of black Wrangler overalls, then were sent a text message the moment their own clothes were clean.

The Wrangler Laundromat is the latest example of a new trend called “Tryvertising,” letter consumers try out your product in a relevant setting, that is slowing permeating the music biz. Other examples in recent times include pop-up nightclubs sponsored by various companies in Australia and Spain, and similar laundry and clothes relationships at other festivals around Europe. --by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
