Stubner Signs ZZ Top
Posted: December 7, 2006
In a statement, Carl Stubner, CEO of Sanctuary Artist Management Worldwide said, "Weíre delighted to be in business with Billy F Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard, the legendary ZZ Top. We fully intend to safeguard the bandís brilliant legacy and do our utmost to help achieve new levels of success, going forward."
Gibbons, speaking on behalf of the band, said "Weíre happy to have found so visionary a team as Carl Stubnerís group. Weíve been at this for some time, as you might know, and are excited to join with Carl and company to maintain what we have and progress to beyond."
ZZ Topís current line-up, intact for more than 37 years, represents a fact unequalled in the annals of American rock music. Over the course of that time, the band has racked up no fewer than 12 gold, platinum and multi-platinum albums, including the RIAAís Diamond Award for domestic sales in excess of 10 million units for the groupís Eliminator album. Their hit records include "La Grange," "Tush," "Sharp Dressed Man," "Legs" and many others heard in constant radio rotation, in film soundtracks and adapted for a vast array of licensing applications.
In the early '70s, with their breakthrough album, Tres Hombres and a string of radio hits and successful stadium concert tours, they vaulted onto the national scene and the charts. In the mid-'70s, "ZZ Top's Worldwide Texas Tour," the band's highly-successful debut tour, became the prototype for many tours that followed in its footsteps. Their Eliminator and Afterburner World Tours in the '80s propelled them into international success. The band continues to perform throughout the world and the demand for their shows keeps them deservedly at the forefront of today's touring artists. Strong overseas markets include England, Japan, Australia, Africa, Canada, Scandinavia, and, of course, Western and Central Europe.
The Rolling Stonesí Keith Richards inducted ZZ Top into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. They enjoy the honorarium of Ambassadors of Goodwill, so named by three Texas Governors and are recognized by the State House of Representatives as "Official Texas Heroes," one of the state's highest honors.
Upcoming touring and recording plans for the band will be announced in the near future. - CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
