DENVER (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) -- Legendary Rock Promoter Barry Fey is returning from retirement to take a role as as musical director for the new Denver County Fair.
Fey will oversee the music entertainment for the fair, which runs from July 28-31, including its main Saturday night concert as well as advise the fair on promotion for the event, fair organizers said in a statement.
"Ordinarily, since my retirement, I turn all such offers down," Fey said in a statement. "And I initially started to turn this down. But after I realized the significance of a Denver County Fair, I started getting excited about it. I think it has a kind of a magic to it. So I agreed to work on it."
Fey is no stranger to live music and was responsible for promoting the first Led Zeppelin show in the U.S. He was one of the driving forces in making Denver a major market, including developing the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater into a major rock venue.
Fey officially retired in 1997, but has been sporadically active since then, including a weekly radio show called "Behind the Scenes with Barry Fey" on Mile High Sports Radio and a class at UCD called "The Real History of Rock n' Roll."
Fey's website also reports that he is writing a book detailing Fey's personal insider's view of the history of Rock in America. - CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
