|Association's End Leads To Festival Cancellation

HILTON HEAD, SC (AP) -- The weeklong Seafood, Jazz & Brew Festival usually held in September on Hilton Head Island is not going to happen this year.
The Island Packet reports that the festival's cancellation is a consequence of the demise earlier this year of the Hilton Head Hospitality Association. The group, which disbanded after 25 years, was responsible for planning the September festival and the Wine & Food Festival in the spring.
Former members, who are organizing a new non-profit to promote tourism on the island, say they still plan to have the spring festival in 2012.
Sean Barth, former president of the association, is helping the new group get off the ground. He says it's better to do the festival right next year than put on a half-hearted attempt this year.
