Insane Clown Posse (AP Photo)
Pastors Oppose ICP Music Festival Plans
Posted: July 9, 2007
CAVE-IN-ROCK, IL (AP) -- Promoters for the rock group Insane Clown Posse say they've found a perfect spot for a music festival in Hardin County, but local church leaders are opposed to the idea.

The Shawnee Ministerial Alliance plans to meet with a representative of Republican Congressman John Shimkus on Tuesday to discuss what officials can do to stop the Detroit-based rap-metal duo, plus Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J -- and a few thousand fans -- from gathering at Hog Rock.

Insane Clown Posse and its label, Psychopathic Records, plans to hold a music event called The Gathering August 9th through 12th at the privately owned site near Cave-In-Rock. The band has held the event for eight years at other venues throughout the US.

Alliance Vice President Greg Degrave, pastor of Levee Pond Church in Cave-In-Rock, says residents don't want the group or its followers in the area for four days.
